On Being a Daddy's Girl

In a few weeks, our baby girl will be born. Our baby girl who was named after her "Lolo" (grandpa), my dad. I got the idea of using my dad's name as part of our baby's name from my sister. She initially was planning on using the name Justyne, should her second born was a boy, but her second child was a girl.
When JR and I were planning about our baby's name, I thought maybe Justyne (from Justy) would sound great for a girl. We just have to make sure that people will pronounce it the right way and not like how they say Justin Bieber's name. Lol.
I am glad JR was okay with using my dad's name :) He was actually not in approval of using his mom's name = Lourdes. But I pushed for it because Lourdes is just so classic for me and I love the name :) Actually, my dad whenever he would refer to our baby, he would say "Kamusta na si Lourdes?"
So anyway, today, I had about a 30 min Facetime call with my daddy who is based in Illinois. Talking to him has always been refreshing. It makes me feel closer to home and somehow makes me forget that he and my mom are actually separated.
I know I have blogged about my dad many many times already, but he is just one of the best topics for me! You see, I became a teenager with my dad away from me. He left for the US when I was 15 and at the time, I didn't know and understand what his plans were. All I remember was us crying knowing that he is leaving. (And now, I am crying again. Ugh. Hormones).
Towards the end of my conversation with Pa, he started to tear up. He just can't believe that his little girl is now expecting a lil girl too! Oh how time flies! I was also telling him that I never really thought that I would be settling down in the US - near him! All I wanted before was to come to the US and visit Disneyland! haha!
Talking to Pa made me feel so blessed despite the distance and our family set up. I know it is not easy to see him given the "circumstances" but I'm glad that I am just about 4 hour plane ride away from him!
I know, someday, Justyne will have this wonderful relationship as well with her Daddy JR! They will be inseparable, for sure! Justyne will look up to her daddy and will probably be his number one fan too! I can't wait for that moment.
